Dear MCFA member,

The Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the MCFA in Potsdam, on 15 November, was attended by 10 full members and another 39 members were represented through their participation in the online voting (the proceedings of the conference are available in the Member Area of our website). The quorum requirement for the AGA is 50 members to be physically present at the meeting. Therefore, no quorum has been reached this year, once again, and the Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) will be convened in accordance with the MCFA statute. The EGA has the power to make legal decisions irrespective of the number of the members physically present or represented.

The EGA will be held in Orsay, France, on 10 January 2009, from 10 to 12 o'clock, on the premises of the Université Paris-Sud:

Prior to the EGA a new online voting is arranged to elect the MCFA Administrative Board for the year 2009 and to approve the MCFA statute changes proposed by the board. All full members of the MCFA are encouraged to participate in the new online vote to avoid a situation where the important decisions affecting the whole Association are made by a small number of members.
